Refurbished mobile phone? Or new mobile phone?

Buying refurbished mobile phone is recommended only for the following set of people:
      1. Mobile mod/app developers
      2. Gamers with extreme gaming demands.
The reason I recommend refurbished phones for these two categories of users is that:
      1) they can get higher configuration mobiles at low prices. For example, they can get 3GB or even 4GB RAM for the cost of new phones with 2GB RAM.
      2) The above arithmetic is inclusive of the cost of ordering a replacement battery in addition to your order of a refurbished phone. (And please do not forget of doing yourselves a favor of getting a replacement battery along with your refurbished phone. Because your refurbished phone would usually be an year or two old and it won't last longer than a few hours of even moderate usage.)
      3) This category of users are more familiar with the android development fraternity and can get custom android ROMs based on latest android versions, something which might be a tall order for an average Joe (the rest of us).

For the rest of us average Joes whose 'extremity' of smartphone use is probably opening a simple Office application (such as document editor, PDF viewer, etc.), buying a new mobile is better. That's because:
      1) You let go of the hassle of buying a replacement battery, which you'd otherwise have to buy with a refurbished mobile.
      2) Further, an average user doesn't need a phone with high end specifications.
      3) The cost of buying a replacement battery more or less costs you the same as a Gamer/Developer buying a refurbished phone.
      4) Last but not the least, you have a new phone in your hand which you can Exchange for a discount on your next new phone 3-4 years down the line.
      5) You save yourself the hassle of having to worry about android updates for the next 3-4 years. Because the apps scenario on Google Play Store won't change significantly in this period. So you can even buy a Panasonic or an Infinix or a Micromax with Android 8 (Oreo) today.
